Why is it called My Cool Tools?
At My Cool Tools, “cool” isn’t just about being fun — it’s about the body’s Cool System. That’s what we (at My Cool Tools), call the parasympathetic nervous system — the part of the body that helps us feel calm, safe, and connected, especially after stress or big emotions.
Every time a child (or grown-up!) uses one of our tools — through breathing, movement, or sensory play — they’re actually activating and strengthening the vagus nerve (which is like the super highway to the Cool System). When we repeatedly activate the vagus nerve, we increase what’s known as vagal tone.
